Run Forest High Pants!!! RUN!

Our weekly meets with Jax are Sunday afternoons.
He has earned extended hours of off campus family visits within a 15 mile limit.
Every seven days that I see him, he has grown a half an inch.
He walked through the door ecstatic for our visit, with swirled-cowlick-bedhead hair, high water jeans and mismatched noticeable socks below the pant hemline.
Poor kid!  He looked like a homeless ragamuffin!
He doesn't seem to mind though, which totally surprised me since he likes to look a 'certain' way.
"As long as I smell good, the girls still think I'm awesome", he said with a cocky smirk.
Jax is training for a marathon,
and he is apparently running in those short pants!!
[I made him demonstrate his form for me.
I also HAD to see what he looked like with high-knees and flood jeans!  It was a crack up!]
I asked him why he doesn't run in his basketball shorts, and he acted like I had just come up with the MOST brilliant idea in the entire world of ideas!!!!!
ahem.......
So, Forest Jax sprays Usher cologne on his jacket before each run.
Gets set on the track, and as the girls are cheering him on, he takes off the jacket and dramatically throws it at them.  They all scramble to catch the geek-jek hoodie and gather to sniff as hard as they can to burn their nose holes with Jax's wonderful body odor combined with a cheap, Walmart scented man perfume!
Oh to be a dorky, awkward, hormonal teenager again!!!
[YOU COULDN'T PAY ME ENOUGH!!!!
But I must say, being the parent of one or two is even harder!!!!
Maybe our family teen drama story to come....
don't know if I am emotionally strong enough to type it...we will see.
All I know, is that I am paving the path for most of you, and I can say with all seriousness, that mothering  teenagers is harder than trying to catch the pot of gold at end of a rainbow.
Just a lil something to look forward to y'all!]

Wah, Wah Waaaaahhhhhhh!!!!!!
After that uplifting, motivating comment about children, we will move on to something truly positive.

As I said, Jax has earned longer family visits.
He was beaming to be the one to introduce us to the movie "The Croods".
[He had seen it on Spring break with his group]
We drove to the Provo mall doors just in time to catch the 2:45 Cinemark showing.
I LOVED IT!!!
OUR FAMILY LOVED IT!!!
THE AUDIENCE LOVED IT!!!
YOU will love it!!!  Go see it with the kiddies!

After the movie, we walked the mall, got a bite to eat, and then it was time to take Jax back to the dorms.

As we approached the mall doors to the outside, we all noticed this...this......this.....person, who couldn't be a day over 19, standing in front of the glass windows admiring himself with a starched white shirt, a paisley silk scarf, no shoes and a freekin old man pipe!
[I was totally confused on what genre/style he was trying to get across!  And he was YOUNG!!!  I'm still perplexed!]
We watched in amusement as the pipe-boy never diverted his gaze off of himself.
I even wondered if there was a hidden camera?
The look on other bystander's faces watching  the 'I'm too sexy' dude was priceless!

Jax couldn't quit laughing, Riv was shaking his head in embarrassment for the poor lad, and Randy was wishing he could look like Hugh Hefner too.

If you want a lot of laughs and weener......

Randy and I caught a matinee on the fly.
The minute we sat down, we were laughing and already happy with our movie choice.
At the end, Randy turned to me and said,
"awe....I don't want it to be over!!!!"
It was AWESOME!!!!!
And if you are a person like Randy and I who enjoy
 crude,
laughing until tears are rolling,
bad language,
male weeners swaying freely,
(actually, I don't think either one of us really enjoyed that...but it was pertinent to the scenes),
and MANY OMG hand on your mouth moments.....
then you will enjoy this movie too :)

It ranks up there with 'Bridesmaids' funny and 'crossing the line' type of scripts.

I give it 4 weeners up!
[that means it was good]

A group nooner

A group date was planned for Sunday afternoon.
Meeting place:
The famous Johanna's Kitchen!!!
Greasy, home fried food at it's finest!!!
In attendance:
Paula  and Jay D.
Lynsie and Jay
Adrianne and Dom (and bambino in the oven)
The Rand and his ol' lady

Girls on one side of the table, and menz on the other.
The dudes had business, back pains, and other stupid stuff to talk about.
The gals had birthing stories, and all around 'woman' gossip to jibber about.
After downing many cups o' joe and euphorically eating our honey-butter scones, we headed in the direction of the theater.

The gals had read many of Janet Evanovich's books about an inexperienced, clumsy bounty hunter.
We couldn't wait to see how it all played out on the big screen!
Our dudes were probably hoping to see some boobies so they came along.

Review:
uh, no.
just don't.
very dull.
predictable.
lame.
cheesy.
bad casting.
no boobies.

We should have watched this at Brewvies!!!
At least we could have been drowning our yawns in beer!

It's elementary my dear.....

In our jammies and blankets in tow, we had reserved seats for the 11:59 pm  premier showing of
Sherlock Holmes 2.
Attending a movie at midnight, and having the privilege to say "I saw it first", was a dream of River's.

Jax wasn't sure if he wanted to go, or could even stay awake that late.
A midnight movie was not on Jax's dream list.
He instantly changed his mind after eating a shartload of candy, bounced off the walls, drove us crazy, and then tagged along.

Randy opted out by default.
He was in bed by 9 pm to be ready for work at 5 am.
I don't even think he knew we had left and came back again.

I was VERY tired.
Exhausted is probably a more appropriate word.
But I did my best to pull myself out of it and join the "excited" rally with a cheerful face.

The movie was GREAT!!!
The entire theater laughed, applauded, and left satisfied (at 2:40 am).
There is something about going to a midnight opening, that makes you feel like you are one big happy family with the rest of the crowd.
It's almost like a hidden secret of  'this is where the party is'.
And  if you're lucky enough to get a seat at the party,  you will happen upon  the amazing after hours energy of the 'premier cult'.

I am actually looking forward to doing this again.......
maybe next time NOT on a school night though!

Whew....it's gonna be a highly caffeinated day!
What we will do for our kiddies.....
 :)

2 Ryans/24 hours

We have broke a movie rental record!!!!
Within one week, we have seen 3 movies in a row that have been
so damn good!!!
I told you about "Our Idiot Brother" which was awesomely epic rental #1.
We watched that show last weekend.
Between that movie being so great and leaving me wanting more movie experience.....
and my body feeling a bit flu-ish,
I've been in total lazy, 'watch a flick' mode.

Friday night we watched "Crazy, Stupid, Love".
The story line was very well written.
BUT the best part(s) are...................

laying your eyes on Ryan Gosling's parts.
You thought you fell in love with him in the "Notebook"?!?!?
OH!!!  You have NO idea sista!!!!
Ryan has surpassed the Notebook hotness in this new movie by  a good gazillion percent and maybe a few more ab packs!!!
This boy isn't real.
I'm pretty sure of it.
Perfection of this nature is not human.

For our adventurous Saturday eve,
we chose "The Change-up" to entertain our nasty, demented minds.
This show is crude, and naked, and incorrect
in sooo many ways..........
WHICH MADE IT THE FUNNIEST DAMN THING I'VE SEEN SINCE BRIDESMAIDS!!!
And guess what???!??!
Another hot Ryan for me to enjoy within 24 hours of the last one!
Ryan Reynolds and Jason Bateman are a great comedic duo.
We chose to watch the original version (rated R) since the boys were just a room away from us.  We didn't want them walking in on something "unrated" in the chances that we couldn't hit the STOP button fast enough.
After seeing the 'normal' version, I think we made a wise choice.
Although, it's got me very curious as to how far they would really take this movie to levels that are XXX.
hmmm....ok, I'm gonna have to re-rent this sucker!
UNRATED version here I come!

It even has a River

We watched this movie last night.
LOVED IT!!!
You immediately fall for  'Ned' (the idiot brother) because he
is so sweet, giving, unassuming, and all about love.
His family of sisters soon realize how great he is too :)
It's totally worth a Redbox buck and your time spent.
Plus there is a little boy named River who is Ned's nephew.....
Made me even more in love and happy to watch this movie.

It's a feel good, funny must see!*

*for adults only

{a time to dance.....}

Here is my 'New Footloose' movie review:
two thumbdingers up!!!
why?
because of these reasons:
~you leave energetic and smiling!
~makes you feel young again/makes you want to be young again
~lot's of laughs!
~perfect casting for Willard!
~they did great job of bringing the movie/music into this day and age.

I went into it counting on being disappointed. Actually, I wanted to be disappointed.
I mean really!!! How do you even come close to the original?
I remember the crews and the hubub in Lehi as it was being filmed in the 80's.
It was the biggest thing to come to our town state in a long time.
It truly signified life in small town Utah....I think we all could relate to the story and dreamed of being Ariel.
She was the first girl I ever saw in a wife beater.
I was in awe of her long, lean body and the way she could seductively move it.
It's just one of those memories that stick with me when my beer gut starts to muffin top over my belt.

Truthfully, my meat Ren of choice will always be Bacon.
(Why don't more people name their kids Ren?  I love that name)

Julianne Hough is such an amazing dancer, a decent actor, and has a beautiful body, so she is hard to fault.
Count on a few cheesy scenes....ie: bus chicken and the new Ren's frustration dance, but overall I would recommend seeing it!
